Meet Beck! This short and stout senior will steal your heart.
We received report of a white pickup truck dumping Beck in a large parking lot at night and speeding off. He got scared by the witness and ran off, into the woods. Miraculously, he reappeared the next morning in a nearby neighborhood. When our Animal Services Officer showed up, he was still scared and evasive However, when they squeaked a squeaker toy from a distance, he immediately perked up, came excitedly barreling over, and without pause, launched himself right into the cab of the truck. He made himself right at home, as you can see in his photo – trying his best to ride shotgun. Staff noticed that he seemed to be wincing in pain, and discovered that inside his poorly cropped ears, he had a horrible ear infection that had swollen both canals shut. It’s possible the high-pitched squeaky toy was the only sound he could hear, which would explain his surprising joy. His ears were quickly treated by a vet, and he is now ready for a home filled with an abundance of squeaker-filled toys.
He is very mild-mannered, docile, and sweet. He met a young child and did well – staying calm and politely minding his own business. Beck has that perfect easy-going personality that will mesh well with anyone that could use some company.
