Travelers along Arapaho Road near the Library may have noticed an increase in activity lately at the Santa’s Village site, as Community Events and Park staff, community volunteers and local contractors have been working rain or shine to get the Village ready in time for its Dec. 4 opening.

The Village’s 16 tiny wood and steel buildings, whose components are stored outdoors during the “off season,” have not been assembled in two years (Santa’s Village was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic) so there is much to be done, refreshing paint as needed and doing carpentry repairs as well as cleaning, decorating, flooring repair and electrical work. A new 15-foot artificial tree has been installed at the northeast corner of the Village.

Santa’s Village opens Saturday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. with the traditional lighting of the pecan tree and arrival of Santa.
