RICHARDSON – “A Place of Peace: Using Art as a Window to the Soul” is a new art exhibition on display at the Eisemann Center. The pieces of art were created by young adults on the autism spectrum from the University of Texas at Dallas Callier Center for Communication Disorders.

The exhibit is a featured component of “Inclusion is Magical,” an event showcasing the art and performances of the autistic community taking place Sept. 9-11. “Inclusion is Magical” includes the Hacking Autism Hack-a-thon, the Magic of Kevin Spencer sensory inclusive performance and the “Place of Peace” Exhibit.

“Art increases the communication for my students and brings awareness for autism. Art can do many things for any individuals regarding stress and anxieties,” said art educator, Teresa Mayo.
