RICHARDSON – Construction crews lifted a massive steel water tower bowl from the ground to the top of a 100-foot-tall concrete pedestal wall on Synergy Park Blvd. and N. Floyd Rd. near President George Bush Turnpike in Richardson.
The bowl, which can hold 1 million gallons of water features the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) and the City of Richardson logos.
Landmark Structure, LP., an engineering consulting firm hired by the City designed the water tank and is currently performing construction. Work on the water tower bowl began in February 2020 and the anticipated tank-in-service/commissioning is set for January 2021.
The tank, funded by Richardson Water and Sewer, is being built to provide storage to meet increasing water demand in the 825-pressure zone and acts as backup during rehabilitation of the 1.5-million-gallon Cooper Ridge elevated tank.
Completion of other construction work related to the new elevated water tank is scheduled for May 2021.
