RICHARDSON – One by one, cars lined up in the parking lot of Heights Recreation Center for a first of a kind event in Richardson. The Senior Drive-thru Health and Safety Fair was an opportunity for seniors to speak to area providers while following CDC guidelines.

The Senior Drive-thru Health and Safety Fair was organized by Richardson’s Senior Center and the Richardson Police Department. It featured 25 vendors from insurance companies and assisted living facilities to home health providers.

The event was free and included music, a boxed lunch and lots of goodies for each passing car. Close to 100 seniors from around Richardson participated in the drive-thru. Richardson Senior Center staff say other similar activities are planned down the road.

“This was a very safe event that they can be in the driver’s seat, we are on the passenger side and we’re able to talk to them and they are able to talk to the vendors and to be able to see another human being, I think it means an awful lot to them,” said Susan Talbot, Older Adult Coordinator for Richardson’s Senior Center.
