The Richardson Independent School District and Mayor Paul Voelker announced this week that the Richardson Mayor’s Summer Internship Program will continue with plans to take place this summer, with flexible start dates and an extended deadline for businesses to sign up.
Now in its third year, the program is a collaboration between the City, RISD and the Richardson Chamber of Commerce and offers full- and part-time internships (paying a minimum of $10 per hour) to incoming high school seniors who attend Richardson ISD or live in the City of Richardson.
Recognizing the challenges of these uncertain times, program organizers will work closely with businesses in “thinking outside the box” to develop customized programs beneficial to both the employer and the high school interns. Businesses may sponsor students to work on site, remotely or a combination of both. They can also sponsor an intern to work at nonprofits.
Student deadline to register was Feb. 29; businesses have until May 4 to sign up.
