Families are invited to bring their bikes and helmets to Heights Park for Richardson’s annual Bike Rodeo, a free, family-friendly event designed to help young riders learn bicycle safety in a fun, hands-on environment.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 9 from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Heights Park parking lot next to the baseball fields, 711 W. Arapaho Rd. It is presented by the City of Richardson and BikeDFW in partnership with The Bike Shop Richardson, Bike Mart and DART.
Children can take part in activities that help them build confidence on two wheels, including a bicycle safety course, helmet fit check, bicycle repair, bike skills activities and games. Children must bring a parent, bike and helmet to participate.
The Bike Rodeo is open to all and gives families a chance to practice important safety habits before summer riding begins. Riders can test their skills, learn how to make sure a helmet fits correctly and get tips that can help make biking safer and more enjoyable.
The event also takes place during National Bike Month, a nationwide celebration of biking and its benefits. Richardson recognizes National Bike Month as part of its ongoing efforts to promote active transportation and help residents learn more about safe ways to walk, bike and connect across the community.
The event is free. Registration is encouraged so participants can receive updates about the event. For more information or to register, visit www.cor.net/BikeRodeo.
