The five winners of the City’s fourth annual Traffic Signal Box Art Contest were recognized at Monday’s City Council work session. Each received $200 and a certificate, and their artwork will be turned into vinyl wraps that will be installed on traffic signal boxes at key Richardson intersections. The art can also be viewed online and in the June issue of Richardson Today. The theme for this year’s contest was “Butterflies.”

Winning artists are as follows:

  • Jennifer Geiger
  • Emily Adams
  • Kristina Hrubo
  • Emily Painter
  • Josselyn Zorto

Traffic signal boxes receiving the new wraps are at the following intersections:

  • Alma Road and Renner Road
  • Apollo Road and Plano Road
  • Arapaho Road and Floyd Road
  • Campbell Road and Owens Boulevard
  • Lookout Drive and Plano Road

Winners were chosen by a selection committee comprised of members of the Cultural Arts Commission and Richardson Rotary Club. The contest has been a unique way to further the City’s commitment to public art and beautify city streetscapes while reaching a broad range of local talent. Submissions for the 2026 contest will open next spring.
