Texans will be allowed to purchase certain emergency preparation supplies tax free April 26-28 during the annual Emergency Preparation Supplies Sales Tax Holiday. This year’s holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, April 26 and ends at midnight Monday, April 28. There is no limit on the number of qualifying items you can purchase, and you do not need to give an exemption certificate to claim the exemption.
Examples of supplies that qualify include cell phone batteries and chargers, first aid kits, carbon monoxide and smoke detectors, non-electric coolers and ice chests, flashlights, and fire extinguishers.
