Mayor Bob Dubey issued a proclamation at Monday’s City Council Meeting declaring today, April 25, as Arbor Day in Richardson, in alignment with national Arbor Day, urging all residents to “observe the day by planting trees, preserving the natural environment, and engaging in actions that support the health and vitality of our community.”

The Parks and Recreation Department marked the day by planting 10 trees this morning at Terrace Park, and more than 100 trees were given away to Richardson residents at the park in the afternoon (as part of the Richardson Replants program).

Arbor Day is typically celebrated on the last Friday in April nationally and was created in 1872 as a day for everyone to appreciate and plant trees.
