To help replace the trees lost due to the severe weather event on May 28, 2024, the City Council has launched Richardson Replants. The program is helping to restore the city’s tree canopy, which offers both shade and beauty throughout the community. This fall, 500 trees will be available with three different species: Desert Willow, Chinkapin Oak and Peach.

A tree-giveaway will take place on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. It will be held during Huffhines Harvest Festival at Huffhines Park, 300 N. Plano Rd.

The trees are only available to Richardson residents who show either a state issued identification card (Driver’s License) or a recent water utility bill.
