Vouchers for free rolls of blue bags were handed out at the Richardson Public Library this week.
Children and their parents met Phil-Up the blue bag while learning about the importance of recycling.
Promotional material including coloring books, sunglasses for kids and recycling magnets were some of the items handed out at the event.
“We reach one, two, maybe three people a week that don’t recycle so, it’s a chance to reach out to them and convince them why it’s important to recycle. A lot of people want to do the right thing, but sometimes they don’t know how to do the right thing, so we go out and explain to them that 80 percent can be diverted from our landfill,” said Gayle Copening, environmental services coordinator.
Phil-Up the blue bag will be back at the Richardson Public Library next Thursday, June 27th from 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m.
