The Collins/Arapaho Transit-Oriented Development and Innovation District Study received a 2019 Celebrating Leadership in Development Excellence (CLIDE) Award today at the North Central Texas Council of Governments’ annual General Assembly in Hurst. A nationally recognized jury of experts in the fields of architecture, urban planning and development identified the Study as one that greatly exemplifies one or more of the Principles of Development Excellence, and one that they feel provides an example of development excellence in the North Central Texas region.

The Study was completed over nine months in 2018 by City staff along with outside consultants and involved numerous focus groups, surveys and stakeholder meetings. It developed a vision for the approximately 1,200-acre area bounded by US 75, Campbell Road, Plano Road and Apollo Road to become a vibrant, walkable and bikeable “premier tech hub in Texas.” After the study was accepted by the City Council in December 2018, several action steps have taken place, including the beginning of the zoning entitlement process and an informational block party held yesterday and today (see story below).
