UT Dallas students involved in several arts disciplines are presenting, “Winsor & Gertie,” the Texas premiere of a 45-minute multimedia play by Donald Crafton based on Winsor McCay’s popular 1914 vaudeville act. McCay, an early pioneer of animation, amazed audiences when he interacted onstage with his animated film, “Gertie the Dinosaur”— the UT Dallas production will combine four live actors, restored footage from the “Gertie” film, and live musicians, directed by Visual and Performing Arts Scholar Damian Enyosah. Crafton will be present both nights for a pre-show talk-back along with UT Dallas Assistant Professor of Animation Dr. Christine Veras.
