Parks and Recreation Director Lori Smeby has officially retired, with today marking her last day with the City after more than eight years. She began in February 2015, and her retirement concludes a four-decade career that started in Kentucky and includes positions with four North Texas communities.
As director, Smeby has been responsible for the management and maintenance of the City’s nearly 1,000 acres of park land, more than 90 miles of trails, and an array of recreation, athletic and aquatic programs. Her tenure here has seen the development and completion of many impactful projects including construction of the Ann Eisemann Inclusive Playground, renovation of the Richardson Senior Center and expansion of the Spring Creek Nature Area.
A search is currently underway to find a new director.
