The annual It’s Time Texas Community Challenge wrapped up earlier this week, and the standings are in—Richardson placed fourth among cities in the Large Community category, besting 30 other cities, with Richardson participants logging almost 2 million points. (Last year, Richardson came in eighth.)
More than 400 communities participated statewide in the free challenge, which encourages individuals and organizations to get fit by earning points (and sometimes, prizes) for logging healthy individual actions such as working out, drinking water and eating healthy meals. The City of Richardson sponsored numerous free fitness classes as part of the Challenge, to provide opportunities for logging points and to help participants find new ways to incorporate fitness into their lives.
The 2023 Challenge was co-sponsored by the nonprofit It’s Time Texas and the US Department of Agriculture.
