City staff provided an overview on work to launch an update to the City’s Comprehensive Plan next year. The Comprehensive Plan is a document that features goals, objectives and policies regarding the City’s development and redevelopment and provides helpful guidance to property owners, developers, residents, and City leaders.
At Monday’s City Council meeting, staff outlined recent steps taken to secure a consulting team to guide the process. Data collection will take place throughout 2023, with first drafts of the update issued in early 2024. Comprehensive outreach/community engagement is planned for gathering public input, including via social media channels, online surveys, information booths at community events, and community “summits” both in-person and online.
The City’s first Comprehensive Plan was published in 1988, with subsequent updates in 1993, 1997, and 2000. The latest comprehensive plan was adopted in 2009 and identified six enhancement/redevelopment districts for further study; four of the districts identified have since been studied and rezoned.
