The plan that sets the direction for the future of Richardson will soon be updated. At this week’s regular City Council Workshop Meeting on Monday, Development Services staff provided a briefing on an upcoming Comprehensive Plan update scheduled to launch early next year. Last updated in 2009, the plan is designed to provide clear goals, objectives and policies to guide the City’s development and redevelopment efforts for the next 10 to 20 years.
The City will work with a consultant on the new update, including reviewing the current plan/subsequent City-wide planning efforts; collecting and analyzing data; and public engagement efforts, with public hearings scheduled before the plan’s adoption. A request for qualifications is planned to be issued for the consultant in September 2022 with hiring expected in November; completion and adoption of the Plan is expected in the second half of 2024.
