RICHARDSON – Earlier this month several intersections within the City of Richardson started looking a little different as traffic boxes became a canvass for local artists.
The artwork, with a wildflower theme, was part of art contest created by the City of Richardson in partnership with the Richardson Kiwanis Club. A total of five artists were selected to display their original work.
“I think it makes the intersections prettier. It makes it more interesting. It gives people something to look at while they sit at the light for a few seconds, and maybe they will get out and take a look, and decide they want to take a walk around the park or something. I think it will attract more people to the area, even if its just a signal box,” said local artist, Kaitlyn Burlison.
The winning artists were recognized during a recent city council meeting. They were awarded a $100 stipend and a plaque.
