Earth Day 2022 is Friday, April 22, celebrated annually across the globe for 52 years to raise awareness about the environment and encourage people to make the planet better. Here are some ideas for how you can mark Earth Day in Richardson:
- Collect items for the upcoming Trash Bash (see story in News above)
- Try mulch mowing and skip bagging—it may already be an option included on your mower. The grass is clipped extra-short so that it falls down between existing grass blades to feed the soil.
- Start the habit of putting leaves and grass clippings in compostable paper yard bags (available at many big-box retailers). Set the brown bags on the front parkway and schedule a BABIC request with the City.
- Get familiar with what Richardson accepts for recycling, even if you already recycle, as acceptable items change over the years. Remember that recyclables need to be empty, clean and dry.
