Let us introduce Sophie, who is in need of a secure, patient place to call home. She is a 5-month-old Bull Terrier/Boxer mix that has sadly been through far too much in her short time here on earth. She has been in our building under a protective custody legal hold for 5 long weeks, but justice has been served and she has finally been placed up for adoption. Due to this long wait, she can display some stressed out/unruly behaviors that have resulted from spending this formative puppy age in a loud, stressful environment. Sophie comes from a very physically abusive owner and has endured a lot of pain, so she will need a consistent, safe routine with someone who is willing to work through that trauma with her. For example, she will likely be jumpy/sensitive about being disciplined or being restrained. But wow, she is a smart girl. She will need training, but is quick to pick up on commands. She has a lot of energy and would love a yard to run and play. We’re happy to give a free crate to her adopters to ensure a smooth transition. We know that at her initial intake, she was very gentle, calm and sweet. Once she adjusts into a new home, we are sure she will be able to return to the content, calm, loyal companion that she is. Because of her background, we want Sophie’s first home to be her last home. For the greatest chances of finding a perfect fit, we have placed a lot of restrictions on her: No apartments, no cats, no first-time pet owners, no kids under 10 and a meet and greet will be required if the adopter has other dogs. Come give this girl some love!
