RICHARDSON – Richardson Fire Station 3 is officially open and allows for more trucks, equipment and personnel than the former facility.
The new 13,200-square-foot facility is located at the northwest corner of Custer Parkway and Lookout Dr. It replaces the former Fire Station 3 (located across the street from the new station).
The station was a high priority in the 2015 Strategic Fire Station Plan, due in part to increasing development and population in the service area and was included in the 2015 Bond Program.
Fire Station 3 features a large piece of outdoor public art that mimics a vintage fire hose nozzle.
Public tours of the facility were canceled due to COVID-19 concerns and a virtual 360 tour was created to give people a look inside the new Fire Station 3.
