The City of Richardson Parks and Recreation’s Community Events team was honored last month with several awards from the Texas Festivals and Events Association (TFEA), including Best Miscellaneous Multimedia and Best Overall Virtual Event for last year’s “Santa’s Village on Parade: A Virtual Shoebox Parade.” The virtual parade, which was broadcast online, featured Santa, “virtual villagers” and more than 25 miniature shoebox “floats” depicting scenes from Richardson’s Santa’s Village, created by individuals, families, businesses and organizations. Like the City’s traditional in-person parades, it benefited Network of Community Ministries.
